What is Sterizon wiZit?

How does Sterizon wiZit work?
Sterizon wiZit is a WiFi handheld device. It requires a Wi-Fi Internet Hotspot for it to work. The business specific customizations, Email List signup form, Survey Questionnaire etc are delivered directly to the Sterizon wiZit device over the internet. Customer is offered the Sterizon wiZit device while they are at the place of your business to signup/Opt-in or take a survey. Customer will key-in their input directly into the device. The information entered is immediately sent over the Wi-Fi/Internet to our secure servers. You, as the business owner (or marketing department), will be the only person who will be able to view the information collected using Sterizon Online Web Portal.

What are the requirements to use Sterizon wiZit?
Apart from an active subscription to Sterizon wiZit, the only requirement to use Sterizon wiZit is the availability of Wi-Fi Internet at your place of business. Wi-Fi is fairly ubiquitous.
Sterizon wiZit is a Zero-Footprint solution. It requires NO changes to your Point Of Sale (POS) Systems or installation of any equipment or any infrastructure changes.

How many Sterizon wiZit units I need for my business?
It depends on the size, foot traffic, desired concurrency, and number of business locations (for multi-unit chains) you have. For small businesses, 1-4 units are sufficient. If you want detailed tracking down to the service associate, then you may need 1 for every service associate. If you have zones within your business, you may look at 1-2 units per zone. For fast food or fast casual restaurants and retail outlets, you probably need just 1-2 units preferably mounted to a fixed location (like a kiosk) with proper display banner around it to get customer attention.

When is it best time to solicit customer for Email Signup or Survey?
If you are a dine-in restaurant, then the best time to collect customer signup/survey input is during the checkout process. Service Person delivers the check along with the Sterizon wiZit handheld device to the customer. You can also solicit Email List optin if you have a customer waiting area before they are seated. If you are a retail outlet or fast food restaurant, you may offer the customer to signup at the checkout counter or setup a mini-kiosk.

Unless customer exclusively requests you to enter information on their behalf, it is recommended you let them use the device to key in their information and feedback.

Where do you store the collected customer data? How can I access it?
All the customer input entered in the device is immediately sent over the Wi-Fi/Internet to the Sterizon secure data centers. No customer information is stored locally on the device. If you have opted for External Email Marketing Provider integration (such as Constant Contact, Campaign Monitor etc), a copy of the data is also sent in real-time to your external provider's account.
You can view, modify, analyze, download all the information collected using Sterizon's Secure Online Web Portal. You'll be provided with an user account to login to the portal. If you have opted for External Provider Integration only, then you would continue to use your external provider's website to view customer information.

Sterizon wiZit device comes with a rechargeable battery and a battery charger. Fully charged battery will last for approximately 3 hours of operation before it requires recharging.

I currently use paper signup/survey cards. Why should I use Sterizon wiZit?
Paper signup/survey cards have the following drawbacks:
- Time and Effort needed to print, distribute, collect, organize and manually enter data into email provider system.
- Often requires dealing with multiple vendors for printing, data entry and email marketing.
- Customer data privacy issues in the handling, discarding of the paper forms.
- Customer data can be easily stolen from these paper forms.
- Customer feedback is visible for the service staff and may lead to lot of filtering before it ever reaches to the business owner.
- Survey feedback is hardly ever entered into a system to make any sense of it. Reading random survey responses occasionally can never give the true customer satisfaction level.
- Paper signup forms suffer from poor response rates.

We offer only pay as you self-service Email Marketing at US$0.03 per email. But, if you send out lot of Email Campaigns or require a full service email marketing provider, you may want to choose from our business partners. We provide integration with majority of the Email Marketing Providers. So, you don't have to go through the manual process of downloading and uploading your member information.

I have email signup on my Website to build my Email List. Why do I need anything else?
Are you an online business? Are your customers mostly online visitors? Then website is the most effective way to build Email Lists and Customer Satisfaction Surveys.
Are you a conventional brick and mortar, store-front business like a Restaurant, Retail Shop or Outlet, Spa, Salon, Car/Auto Service or Dealership, Sports Club, Gym, Hotel, Motel, Church, Doctor's Office etc? If yes, and majority of your customers do business with you at the place of your business, then having a Email Opt-in Enrollment Card, Customer Comment or Survey Card, Paper signup sheet or an Online optin form on your website (although good to have) isn't effective at all (read more about this in this blog entry)! Isn't it (Sterizon wiZit) intrusive to customer?
Absolutely Not! As long as you are not pushy in your approach, and you let the customer know the purpose of the device (Like, "Would you be interested in joining our eClub to receive great offers and promotions?" or "Would you like to take a completely confidential survey about your experience today?"), it is completely up to the customer if he/she feels like signing up or not. Don't you verbally ask your customer today if they are satisfied with the service?

I use OpenTable for Email Marketing and Survey. Why do I need anything else?
OpenTable is an online table reservation system. They collect the email of the person making the reservation, which is a by-product. It's a good source to add members to your Email List, but:
- Reservations are usually made for groups of 2 or more people. You only get the email of the person making the reservation.
- The person making the reservation need not be the guest actually dining.
- OpenTable uses the same email list to send other restaurant offers.
- Are all your customers come from OpenTable reservations?
- What about all the walk-in customer traffic?
- For effective email marketing, you would want more than just email address and name (like Birthday, Anniversary etc).

How many active surveys can I have at a time?
You can only have 1 active survey at a time on the Sterizon wiZit devices at a given business location. If you are a multi-unit business, then you can have 1 active survey for each of the business locations.

Do you store anything locally on the device? Do you support local store and forward in case the Wi-Fi/Internet is down?
No information collected is stored locally on the Sterizon wiZit device. Everything is immediately sent over the Wi-Fi/Internet to Sterizon's secure data center. We DO NOT support any local store and forward. If you are outside the Wi-Fi network or your internet is down, you'll see a "Network Down/Host not found" popup error message. The device however will automatically reconnect if the Wi-Fi comes back online.

Do you have contract commitment for subscription?

Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
NO. You can only cancel your account at the end of your subscription period (which is usually 12 months). NO partial subscription period reimbursements will be given. Once your subscription renews, that entire subscription period becomes non-refundable. Account termination due to any violation of the User Agreement will result in automatic forfeiture of all funds. Cancellation charges apply ONLY for subscriptions under multi-year contract commitment.

What to do if the Sterizon wiZit device is lost/stolen?
Sterizon wiZit devices are built for the sole purpose of collecting customer information. They are effectively useless for any other purpose. With that said, it is still your responsibility to track these devices at your business. In the rare cases where its lost or stolen, please report to us immediately. We will terminate the services on that device, which will make the device useless. You can buy replacement device at the retail price for each device reported lost or stolen. Standard shipping and handling fee applies in all cases. A replacement device will arrive approximately in 2 weeks of the purchase.

What to do if the Sterizon wiZit device is broken/damaged while in use?
Sterizon wiZit device flip-open design built to handle minor accidents with falls/spills etc. However, just like any electronic device, a hard fall or serious spill etc may damage the device. It is your responsibility to protect the device from any abusive use. In the rare cases where its broken or damaged, you can buy replacement device at the retail price. If your account is under active subscription for more than 12 months with no claims for damaged devices, you may be eligible for a $50 replacement device. Standard shipping and handling fee applies in all cases.

What to do if the Sterizon wiZit device stops working or is defective?
Sterizon wiZit devices are designed to last with an average life span of 4-5 years. They go through rigorous quality checks and testing before they are shipped to the customer. If it is determined that the device is infact defective (and not broken/damaged/lost/stolen due to negligent use) and is with in the 90 day warranty period, we'll ship you a replacement device within approximately 2 weeks of the reported incident at no cost to you. Defective device must be shipped back to our processing center within 30 days of the reported incident to avoid extra charges.

What is Wi-Fi? What Wi-Fi networks are supported? How can I get Wi-Fi for my business?
Wi-Fi is a signal that is broadcast out that wireless devices, like the Sterizon wiZit, can connect to for access to the Internet. Most businesses already have a Wi-Fi network created but if you are trying to build a wireless network for the first time it is very simple and fairly inexpensive. All you need is a wireless access point or router connected to a broadband Internet service like a cable or DSL connection. Routers can be purchased from any electronic store and are as low as $20.00. The router manufacturer instructions will walk you through setting up a wireless network. Sterizon strongly recommends using a secured wireless network (preferably WPA, if not supported then WEP).

What Wi-Fi networks are supported?
Sterizon wiZit contains 802.11g radio and will work with both 802.11b and 802.11g networks. However, Sterizon wiZit currently does not support a wireless hotspot that requires you to enter in personal information and accept certain terms before it allows you to access the network (the likes of AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots)

What Wi-Fi encryption standards are supported? What is your recommendation?
Sterizon wiZit supports WPA-PSK, WEP and OPEN Wi-Fi networks. Encryption is strongly recommended for the wireless networks to deter any hacking and data hijack efforts.
For security reasons, you may choose to add a password to your router so that only devices (like the Sterizon wiZit) that know the password can access the router. The two most widely used types of encryptions are WPA and WEP, WPA stands for Wi-Fi Protected Access and WEP stands for Wired Equivalent Privacy. If your network is encrypted, you will be prompted during the wireless network setup process to enter the WPA or WEP Key. The device will remember which network you connected to last and what your password was so you will only have to enter this one time.
For WEP encryption, the Sterizon wiZit supports both HEX keys and ASCII for the WEP password. HEX codes use only the characters 0-9 and A-F and are between 10 and 26 characters long. It is common for people to use their 10 digit telephone number as the WEP password since it's all numeric and easy to remember. ASCII passwords are either 5 or 13 characters long. If you do not know what your WEP key is, you can look at the administration page of your router to find out. To access the administration page on your router you will need to open up your web browser on your PC and connect to the IP address listed in your routers documentation. For example, most Linksys routers have a default IP address of 192.168.1.1. To connect to the Linksys you would type in http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar on your web browser.
